Ultimately, starts off incredibly interesting and by end I was incredibly disappointed

Really nails the time period, the atmosphere, and while there are a lot of who-cares type scenes and engagements between side characters, it's a compelling beginning. I think the biggest let down of all, is you never find out what happened to the missing sister, and we made our lead protagonist just your average, ordinary, off-the-rails insane who loses it by the end.

So much potential, and the lead-in and mis-en-scene is really gripping, but in the end, i was very very very let down. I appreciate the attempt at commentary and atmosphere building, but if it's silly and pointless why bother?

Interesting but needed to be fleshed out.

Sad to say Censor is one more movie that gets so many elements of great movie making correct , yet ultimately fails to deliver anything great. Dear people behind the camera, a movie needs more than atmosphere. Niamh Algar is fantastic in the lead, the movie is filled with excellent performances by the supporting cast, but while the smaller roles seem well written, the main role of Enid played by Ms. Algar is not well written. She isn't called upon to do much more than look disturbed and while she is great at it, it's kind of a one note role. In fact looking back on the entire movie, for most of it , it is nothing more than Enid looking bothered, Enid looking perplexed, Enid looking disturbed. The cinematography is top notch as are the settings ,recreating a period several decades back when VHS tapes were in and governments worried if excessive violence in films was causing actual violence. The subject was interesting, but the movie takes forever to get going. In the end, it does pay off, but only in a predictable way. Even worse, this is labeled horror and it isn't. If you are expecting horror, you'll most likely hate this and be very bored by it. The script and direction are the big failures here. Could have been great, instead it bores for most of it's length.

Someone's losing the plot

I think I liked this movie better than most people. I was with it start to finish. I especially liked the 80's Britain backdrop with the presence of the video nasties being so prevalent. I liked the main character, Enid, and I thought she had an interesting enough journey. But what made this movie for me was where it ended up going. Maybe other viewers were let down, but I thought the ending was memorable. There is some imagery in there that will stay with me. Not scary, just well done.
