Sadly only available in Sweden without subtitles

Swedish film often tends to have a left wing message. Here is a simple romantic comedy without any such political ambitions. It shows the beauty of Stockholm and its archipelago and traditional Swedish bourgeois environments. Typical romantic comedy plot, with bankers, speculators, and military men. The details of the story are pretty well thought out. This kind of film has always been hated in Sweden; consequently we do not have many of them. Still this film can stand on its own merits. It is fresh and modern in style, and not many films from 1961 show a naked breast. Just highlighting the lightness of the film with the latter comment. Obviously you won't see a naked women in a film from 1961 :)

Excellent script, acting and directing

This movie, based on the novel by John Einar Åberg, is one of the all time Swedish classics and after watching it I can really see why. The ingenious acting of Jarl Kulle and Christina Schollin is in comparison with some of my all time favorites such as Bogart and Bergman in Casablanca. The character Jan Froman is an earlier (and happier) version of Bud Foxx in Wall Street who can be seen coming from below and getting rich on the stock market. Love Mates (Änglar finns dom?) is a romantic comedy with warmth, humor and joy. This film was made before the days of Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon and the rest of the actors who managed to destroy this genre.

All together, this is a must-see film for all movie lovers with the slightest interest in Swedish movie history.
