Worth a watch

This film is not a cinematic masterpiece, but it is definitely worth a watch. The idea for the story is a good original concept and proves very entertaining. I found that characters in this film are highly entertaining, particularly Andy's work colleagues who made this film really entertaining with their bold personalities and witty humour - each having their own traits which perfectly create great comedic scenarios. I also found that I really liked Andy as a main character - I didn't find him irritating nor boring. Where this film lacks for me was that a lot of scenes in this film could have been removed, for the runtime of the film I felt was too long. The film could've been shortened via removal of a lot of scenes orientating around subplots which never really get resolved in the end. Despite the film dragging towards the end, however, I would recommend watching this film and I would watch again if it was shown on TV though I maybe wouldn't choose to watch it over other comedies that I prefer.

7/10 - Lots of funny moments and entertaining, though might be a bit too long.

Not funny, It is stupid.

I can't believe people think this movie is good. It isn't funny. The language is filthy. The so called comedy is lame. It made me sick on my stomach. The music is horrible. The whole thing is a piece of crap. This type of movie wasn't funny 30 years ago and still isn't funny now. Please people come up with something classy and funny with some decent actors.

It truly is a very funny movie, and a smart, touching film as well.

Steve Carrell delivers a subtly fantastic performance in this hilarious comedy. But just because it's silly and funny, doesn't mean that's all that it is. Towards the end of the movie, I found myself watching a film about modern ideas of masculinity. There really is a strong narrative hidden behind uproarious comedy and obnoxious jokes. However, where "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" really demonstrates its strengths is simply in the comedy. It truly is a very funny movie, and a smart, touching film as well. Unlike similar comedies nowadays, it asks more of the film by taking the story a step further than creating laughs.
