I looked forward to this pairing since I have seen Cameron Mathison do some really good Hallmark movies and there is something about Elizabeth Mitchell in her softer roles.
This movie starts out with a great sequence between the two leads and some playful dialogue after they bump into each other before it launches into the common my-workplace-is-being-sold theme. The urgency is somewhat manufactured in the story, and how it progresses irritates me because the circumstances are so contrived, but it supplies a backdrop as we watch the developing relationship. This is great chemistry! The flirting and playful relationship continues through most of the movie.
While the background premise is a more than familiar theme, there are some interesting sequences. The way they meet is unique. I've never seen a puzzle like the one they briefly worked on about 1/3rd of the way through. The cocoa scene is done with a fresh twist. Meanwhile, there is a really interesting and touching sub-plot resulting from the Gertrude encounter going on also. I didn't enjoy the last third as much as what came before, but it is a Hallmark movie with the expected ending.

Synopsis
It's the approach to Christmas in New York City. Olivia Bennett and Edward Taylor, a former ballerina turned dance teacher and a small business consultant respectively, have long taken themselves out of the dating market, Olivia who has not felt ready to date since the passing of her husband Nathan eight years ago - her adolescent daughter, Maeryn, who doesn't remember her father - and Edward who is always traveling for work, he considering himself technically homeless and thus not in a position to devote himself to any one person in any one place, his attempts to do so in the past always having resulted in failure. They meet when they both come to the rescue of a poor, elderly woman named Gertrude, who loses her $80 - four twenty dollar bills - which was her Christmas Club money for Christmas gifts. Playful
A winner
We've thought the 2019 crop of Hallmark Christmas movies has been pretty disappointing. This is the third one we like.
We liked Cameron Mathison in "A Christmas to Remember", and he came through again here, with a very similar performance. Elizabeth Mitchell is just as beautiful as we remember her from her Santa Clause roles.
This is a story of two people broken on love, and a chance(?) meeting which brings them together ... again and again and again.
The characters all have chemistry, which is essential for a romance, and the story has believability, despite the "magic lady" who drives the couple's fate.
I'm not sure if this is one we'll want to watch year after year, but we very much enjoyed one viewing.
This one is so sweet - one of my favorites for the 2019 Holiday Season
First - Cameron Mathison is great in this movie. If you loved the Christmas Ornament from 2013 with Cameron and Kellie Martin - I think you'll enjoy this one to, I smiled all the way through (and I was alone watching it!). Kindness and comfort - positive messages in a story and is full of hope and love.
